Court-Watching Update

Posted in Cases, News by Bidish J. Sarma on October 7, 2009

The Court heard oral argument in three criminal cases today: United States v. Stevens, Johnson v. United States, and Bloate v. United States.

I wasn’t able to get in to hear the Stevens case, but I will review the transcript tomorrow and post a recap.  According to SCOTUSblog, the Supreme Court may find that the federal law that prohibits the sale of videos that depict animal cruelty to be unconstitutional under the First Amendment.

I did sit in on the Johnson argument, and will share my views of that argument tomorrow as well.

Tomorrow, I will review the transcript of Bloate too.
